Craven District of Sanctuary working with Selfa

Chris Rose and Stella Perrott recently went along to a session at Selfa (Skipton Extended Learning for All), a Skipton charity which works with children who are referred to them for additional learning support. This is the report of the outcome of the sesssion, posted on Facebook

“What if… we embrace our journeys?” In Selfa Youth Council we have been exploring our journeys and this has led to a fantastic social action project, we decided we’d like to help refugees. We worked with Craven District of Sanctuary to explore how we could help and answered the question “what would be the one thing you’d miss if you had to leave your home?” We thought about pets, blankets, cuddly toys & electronics and decided that we’re going to raise money to get blankets for refugees so “they feel warm and fuzzy like my blanket makes me feel when I get home from school”. This Saturday morning, we’ll be at Skipton Library selling cakes to raise money so we can help refugees feel welcome & at home by donating blankets!

EDIT £113 was raised and the group decided to buy items to give to Biasan in Bradford
