Talk for Holocaust Memorial Day in Skipton Library

Jette Howard gave a very interesting talk about what happened in Denmark during the second world war when the Nazis tried to round up Jewish people. Most were moved to safety in Sweden with the help of fishing communities in small villages on the coast. They returned several years later.

Jette had personal recollections of the people and their stories. She made the point that we all need to be watchful, to work together to include everyone and look after each other. Born in Denmark, Jette has lived in the United States and other parts of Yorkshire before settling in Skipton. She described Denmark as a very open and tolerant country.
