David Skaith was elected on May 6th for a three year term. Before the election Craven District of Sanctuary wrote to all the candidates asking for their comments on how they would help refugees.
David responded:
“I have, in my role as Chair of York High Street Forum, supported the work already that York City of Sanctuary has been doing, particularly linking up with businesses to provide equipment such as laptops and to locate language speakers that would help in settling refugees into our region. Any support I can offer I will absolutely do; I would happily rely on the experts in both York and North Yorkshire to guide on this.
Rest assured, I am incredibly passionate about helping and supporting people and creating communities that come together. I am proud we have a region that has organisations doing brilliant work already, I will support them all I can and help to make people feel welcome in York and North Yorkshire.”
